Pennsylvania man faces serious charges after battery theft from Bass Pro Shops in Auburn

Authorities say a Pennsylvania man has been arrested after an investigation into a major theft at Bass Pro Shops in Aurelius.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Jason P. Cistola, 47, of Old Forge, Pennsylvania, in connection with a theft at the Bass Pro Shop in the Town of Aurelius. Cistola was charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree following a June 2, 2024 incident in which he allegedly stole over $1,000 worth of marine batteries by switching product tags.

Cistola was positively identified with help from the public through the SaferWatch App and social media. He turned himself in at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building and was released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Aurelius Court on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 7 p.m.
