City of Uvalde Police Department & SaferWatch Announce New Proactive Safety Measures to Enhance Communication for City and Schools
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Uvalde, TX – In the wake of an unimaginable tragedy, the City of Uvalde, Uvalde Police Department, and
SaferWatch formed an immediate partnership to reimagine public safety across the city and school district. Both
organizations are proud to announce a new phase of this collaboration, marked by enhanced features and
proactive safety measures designed to better protect students, staff, and the entire Uvalde community.
Following the events of May 2022, SaferWatch quickly partnered with the Uvalde Police Department to bring
emergency alerting, anonymous tip reporting, and real-time communication tools to schools and municipal
buildings throughout Uvalde. Since then, the platform has served as a layer of security, giving law enforcement and
community members the ability to work together more closely than ever before.
These new program enhancements include:
● Improved Tip Reporting System – Residents and visitors can now report crime, threats, or suspicious
activity through the SaferWatch app using text, photos, videos, or audio—with the option to remain
anonymous. The SaferWatch app also allows for two-way texting with the Uvalde Police Department.
● Uvalde PD Real-time Alerts – The City of Uvalde and City of Uvalde PD can now send real-time alerts
through the SaferWatch platform to all citizens, including text messages, phone calls, emails, and even
mobile application alerts – helping to keep citizens and schools safer and more informed.
● SaferWatch Command Center Integration – All alerts and tips are now connected directly to Uvalde PD
through allowing faster coordination with 911 and law enforcement dispatch.
● Enhanced School Safety Features – Students and staff can now also participate in safety best practices
and have direct communication with law enforcement before, during, and after any incidents.
“SaferWatch empowers our community to play an active role in public safety. It allows residents to report
concerns in real time, stay informed during emergencies, and directly support the efforts of the Uvalde
Police Department. Together, we can build a safer, stronger Uvalde—one alert at a time.”
— Chief Delgado, Uvalde Police Department
“The tragedy in Uvalde was a stark reminder of the critical need for real-time communication and
proactive safety measures in our schools and communities. At SaferWatch, we believe that public safety is
a shared responsibility—one that extends beyond law enforcement to include every member of the
community. By integrating our platform across various systems and devices, we enable people to report
concerns instantly, receive timely alerts, and collaborate seamlessly with first responders. Together, we
can —and we must—transform our collective vigilance into a powerful force for prevention and
protection for all.”— Geno Roefaro, CEO of SaferWatch
